SUMMARY:Clifden Arts Festival 2025
DESCRIPTION:Clifden Arts Festival 2025\nThe longest running community arts festival in Ireland\, Clifden Community Arts Festival\, now heading into its 48th year will take place from September 17th-28th and yet again promises to have something to excite everyone in the 2025 programme. \nAudiences can expect a very high quality artistic programme with a superb literary\, musical and visual art content which again will have the community arts of Clifden and the surrounding hinterland as a central focus with creative writing\, music\, theatre and film workshops and performances taking place in the local schools for the duration of the festival. Clifden Arts Festival opens on with a special segment for secondary school students. \nThe ‘Community Arts Week’ began life as a week-long celebration of the arts for the children of Clifden Community School – helping to develop artistic and social skills\, and provide an outlet for self-expression and development. Over the years Arts Week at the school gave such pleasure to the greater community that an encompassing and fervent support network grew around it\, allowing it to develop. \nKeep an eye on our Facebook page for more updates throughout the year. www.facebook.com/clifdenartsfestival \n \nPictured: 2023 Poster

SUMMARY:Traditional Hooker Regatta\, (Roundstone) - Cloch na Rón July Date TBC
DESCRIPTION:Cloch na Rón (Roundstone)\nA Traditional Sailing Boat Festival displaying unique Irish boats such as currachs and Galway Hookers including the Bád Mór\, Gleoiteog\, Leathbhád and Púcán classes of boats. Traditionally used along the coast of Connemara \nRaces\nHookers are now used as a leisure craft: the skills of boat builders and crews can be appreciated during the Summer boat races. In the races\, the sailing course is set with bulls and the boats have to go out to them and round them a few rounds. Before the start of the race\, three different whistles are allowed so that the conductors are ready. When different types of boats take part in the same race\, the slowest boats start after the second whistle. The time interval between the second and third whistles indicates the handicap in that particular race. While waiting for the third whistle\, the sailors keep the boats afloat so that they can better measure the course and weather.

SUMMARY:Connemara Mountain Walking Festival\, Leenane 2025
DESCRIPTION:Connemara Mountain Walking Festival\, Leenane 2025\nA Céid míle fáilte awaits you in Leenane on the shores of the Killary Fjord for the resumption of the Connemara Mountain Walking Festival over the weekend of 2nd – 4th of May \nOur goal is the let you experience what this fabulous community has to offer while getting close to some of the best scenery\, nature\, history and geology along the Wild Atlantic Way. The walks we organise are designed to suit all levels of ability and let you fully immerse yourself in the wild Connemara landscape. We want you to enjoy our area as much as we do. \n \nExplore some wonderful footage from past walks in our gallery of photos on this website. \nWe are fortunate to have professional guides who not alone are highly trained mountain leaders\, but are passionate about what they do to help make your experience all the more worthwhile. \nWhile the festival is organised during the busy autumnal season\, preparing for the coming winter\, for the farm families on whose lands we will be walking\, most can still find the time to accompany us on the walks\, something that can be very rewarding for all. We encourage our walkers to interact and mingle on our walks as some of the best experiences you will have on a Connemara mountain is when you share it with others. \nOne other very interesting thing\, especially for people who are not native Irish speakers is to get your tongue around the names of the mountains\, but don’t worry as a crash course will be provided before we set off. \nTransport to and from the walks is included in the price as well as tea and scones when you finish. \nEmail: info@connemaramountainwalkingfestival.com\nPhone (General Enquiries): +353 (0) 872 819 825 \nWeb; connemaramountainwalkingfestival.com \n
