Renvyle House Hotel is a historic country house set on a 150 acres estate on the shores of the Atlantic on the Renvyle Peninsula. First opened as a hotel in 1883 by Mrs. Caroline Blake and recorded in many guide books include Sommerville & Ross’s ‘Through Connemara in a Governess Cart’ and in Black’s Guide to Ireland 1912. It was then owned by surgeon, writer and statesman Mr. Oliver St. John Gogarty . The house was burnt down in the civil war and rebuilt in the Arts & Crafts style of the 1920’s.
