Representing Artists Since 1988
Representing artists in Connemara since opening in 1988, The Lavelle Art Gallery is situated in a two-storey yellow townhouse on the Main Street that has been in the Lavelle family for six generations. It houses an eclectic and vibrant collection of Irish and International artists, who are drawn to work in this region of outstanding natural beauty and heritage.
Amongst our current stable of exhibiting artists at the Lavelle Art Gallery, Irish painters are to the fore, with the expansive panoramic landscapes of Eileen Meagher, the richly tactile work by James Brohan and the inventive and symbolic narrative paintings of Rosie McGurran RUA providing three entirely different expressions of creativity, all mined from the same source.
The subtly powerful mixed-media paintings by Mary Donnelly have been critically acclaimed , most recently in the Buyers Guide to Irish Art (5th edition). Her work has been exhibited in the U.S. and Australia and who has had several one-person shows in Dublin galleries. We are proud to represent the works of Tom Stephenson, whose brightly-coloured landscapes see Connemara almost through a haze of memory, and Debi O’Hehir’s distinctive horses drawn and painted in ink and sepia.
There are always new artists to be found at the Lavelle Art Gallery, we have a skill in attracting and keeping the best artists who come to live and work in the area. All are framed professionally and sensitively, and we deliver nationwide. We have always a realistic policy towards pricing work, and have a reputation for integrity in dealing with both buyers and the artists.
