The Team
Optometrist Ailbhe ní Ráighne FAOI
Ailbhe is from Indreabhán, Co. na Gaillimhe, she studied optometry in the Dublin Institute of Technology and graduated in 1999. After graduating Ailbhe practiced in both multiple and independent practices in Ireland. Ailbhe established Athenry Opticians in 2002 and followed on to open ní Ráighne Opticians in Clifden in 2004. Ailbhe has continued to further her education in the UK in the past number of years, completing 3 modules in Behavioral Optometry. Most recently she has been accepted on to a masters in clinical optometry programme run by City University/Moorfields Eye Hospital. Her particular areas of interest are diabetic eye care and vision and learning and paediatric eye care.
She is also actively involved in the association of optometry Ireland and has served on the PR comitee in the past as well as being an examiner, examining the newly qualified graduates on behalf of the associaition.
Company Director Fergus Patten
Fergus opened ní Ráighne Opticians alongside his wife Ailbhe in January 2004, and looks after all the day to day running of the business. Fergus is also responsible for running the state of the art laboratories in both practices.
Athenry Practice Manager Josephine Bird
Josephine is from Ballyglunin, Tuam, Co. Galway and has managed Athenry Opticians for the past 2 years. Josephine has 15 years experience in optometry and was worked in a number of independent optometry practices before joining Athenry Opticians in 2004.
Clifden Practice Manager Ann Coyne
Ann is from Cleggan, Co Galway and joined the Clifden Practice as manger in 2008 on returning home . Ann has 15 years experience in optometry and has worked extensively in a number of independent and multiple practices in the UK and Ireland before joining ní Ráighne Opticians.
Athenry Optical Assistant Aisling Kearney-Burke
Aisling joined Athenry Opticians in November 2006 upon returning home. Aisling has a degree in fine art, and a very good eye for fashion and flair.
Clifden Optical Assistant Hayley McDonagh
Hayley is the newest member of the team joining us in January 2009. Hayley has a degree in office information systems and has worked for a number of firms in Galway city before joining us.
